“We need to step in the frame with them more...our precious daughters. We want them to remember we were right there with them. We are a part of their story. So we are documenting these chapters in their stories, including the heart in their lives that will always wrap around theirs...their mothers. Writing letters from our hearts to theirs, along the way. ❤️
I have joined up with a dear friend, and fellow mother of girls, to create this love letter, self-portrait project with our daughters. Follow along on our journey of love through #legacyoflovemyletterstoyou on Instagram.”
My Love Letter To You,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are so many qualities that I see in you that also I see in myself, as if looking at you is like looking as past version of myself. Yet you are very much your own person. If there is anything that I am able to teach you as your mom, it would be to teach you how to let go of any ideas of perfection and to learn to make something beautiful out of the imperfections.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I see you when you get mad and frustrated when something isn’t perfect in your mind. I see you taking those drawings that you have worked so hard on but may have made one mistake on, and crumple it up and throw it away. I see the tears you hold back when you may have gotten it wrong the first time. ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Baby girl, it is the cracks, the flaws, and the imprefections in life that make it much more interesting and far more beautiful. Does that mean to say that you shouldn’t work hard and try your best because we don’t strive for perfections? Absolutely not. It means that trying your best and working hard is enough.
This is a lesson that I still struggle with at times, I get it. Case in point, my head and your toes were maybe meant to be in this photo, this is short of what I envisioned, but it’s still beautiful. If i can take what I have learned, take my struggles, and pass on any wisdom to you, maybe you can struggle just a little less with it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have fun. Laugh lots. Let go.
xoxo,
Mom
