What Do You Want To Remember

When planning our session last year, my friend, Liza, had the idea of of getting photos of her children as they were waking up in the morning. She wanted to remember all of those little details that we think we will never forget, but sometimes, those details fade off as new memories are made. As a lover of capturing my own kids while they sleep, I could not have loved her idea any more. These are the moments when you are grown, that you will long for. The messy hair. Them rubbing the sleep from their eyes. The fact they they may or may not be a morning person and how each of them greets the day.

My time waking each of them was so precious. I got a small glimpse into what their daily mornings were like. Such a simple request to document my friends sleeping kids turned into such a beautiful story within these images. Once everyone was awake, we brushed out the hair, smoothed out the crazy, threw on a change of clothes, and took it outside for a few family portraits.

These are the sessions that make my heart swell. Why? Because it’s about so much more that having pretty photos to put up on your walls, which is just an added bonus. So, when thinking about our session together, what do you want to remember?
